Walking in Time
Location: West Byford Prinary School
An analemmatic or human sundial. In this type of sundial, the observer steps into the sundial and becomes the gnomon. A beautiful interactive mathematical sculpture.
The materials used are concrete, granite, sandstone, stainless steel and brass while the diameter of the ellipse is 7 metres.
The squares on the dial refer to the local cultivated fields and they are surrounded by shapes of wedge tailed eagles and horses.
The brass dateline represents the landing strip of the local aerodrome.
